Today Africa stands at the door of total political liberation as apartheid is about to be relegated to the ignominy of history. The process of further democratization is well underway, notwithstanding the many difficulties of transition and adjustment. Political pluralism and multiparty elections are progressively being internalized as an integral part of the political fabric of the continent.
