In February 1969, Dr. Salim became Tanzania’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. This was a relatively short posting, less than one year, but his time in China had a lasting impact both in terms of Dr. Salim’s personal growth and diplomatic career. Though his time in China was short, the ties Dr. Salim had with China from then on became unshakable and unbound as his time at the United Nations would demonstrate.
