First Trip to China as Prime Minister

  • Share

From September 17 - 25, 1984 Dr. Salim was in China on official visit as Prime Minister. Three years after President Nyerere's state visit to China and 15 years since Dr. Salim served as Ambassador to China, he was once again back to a country that he valued so dearly - especially the relationship between Tanzania and China. During the visit, Dr. Salim held talks with Premier Zhao; attended a State Banquet in his honor; laid a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes; visited the Yonghe Lama Temple; met with leaders of the Ministry of Foreign and Economic Relations as well as meeting with African Ambassadors. Amne met with Leaders of the All-China Women's Federation.
