OAU Unanimously Endorses Dr. Salim's Candidacy for UN Secretary General

"After elaborating on the eminent qualifications of Mr. Salim Ahmed Salim as a leading diplomat who has played an important role in the Organization, Sir Dawda pointed out that no African has had the opportunity to serve as the Secretary General of that Organization despite their meritorious contributions to work the work of the United Nations. This is now the time for Africa to contest for the post. Accordingly, Sir Dawda commended the nomination of Hon. Salim Ahmed Salim for the approval of the Assembly."
